The lyrics for “Shame, Shame, Shame!” have stuck in my head, word for word, all these years!

Well, any time I start to feel a little puffed up about some minor success in my life, I hear the tight-harmony vocals from these 3 finger-wagging ladies in my head!  “Shame, shame, shame!” they say, and burst my little pride-bubble!

To see the scriptural origin of this song, read the parable in Luke 14:7-11.

Thanks to vocalists Tasha Fischer, Lynna Burton and Arlene Marker for nailing these super-tight harmonies.  It’s a joy to listen to this after all these years!

Shortly before writing this song, I heard the talk “Beware of Pride” by President Ezra Taft Benson.  It is still the BEST discourse on pride I’ve ever read.  If you want a treat and have a few moments to invest, I encourage you to read it –  I’d be interested in knowing your thoughts.  Although I had never before heard about “pride from the bottom looking up”, it is something I’ve become very aware of and we have referenced it many times in our family over the years.  What great insight!

I hope you enjoy this song, “Shame, Shame, Shame!” from the 2005 production of Hidden Treasures:  A Musical Revue of the Parables of Jesus Christ!  I encourage you to share it using the social media buttons on this page!
